Group

Our Story

Arabesque was founded in 2013 following a management buy-out from Barclays Bank, and our story is one of partnership between leaders in finance, mathematics, AI, data-science and sustainability working together to deliver a new approach to capital markets. Institutionally developed, Arabesque is today an independent, global financial technology group of companies at the cutting-edge of quantitative and sustainability research, providing investment, advisory and data solutions by leveraging our ESG, machine learning and AI capabilities. Our firm and investment strategies were first developed at Barclays Bank between 2010 and 2013 in cooperation with professors from the universities of Stanford, Cambridge, Oxford and the Fraunhofer Society.

In 2018, Arabesque S-Ray GmbH was established independently as a global financial services company, focusing on advisory and data solutions by combining big data and ESG metrics to assess corporate sustainability performance. Backed by institutional investors including Allianz X, DWS Group, Commerz Real AG, Land Hessen and Helaba Digital, Arabesque S-Ray GmbH today serves blue-chip clients across global capital markets, offering a range of products and services to meet increasing worldwide demand for sustainability data.

Arabesque AI was established in 2019 as an investment advisory and technology company, emulating human decisions in finance and portfolio management through its proprietary Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engine. The company is majority-owned by the Arabesque Group, and welcomed DWS Group as a minority investor in 2019.

At the Arabesque Group, we benefit from a board comprised of global leaders with extensive experience in the areas of corporate responsibility, responsible investment, environmental activism, human rights and gender inclusion. They include Georg Kell, founding Executive Director of the UN Global Compact; Barbara Krumsiek, former President and CEO of Calvert Investments; Dr Carolyn Woo, former President of Catholic Relief Services; John Ruggie, Professor of Human Rights and International Affairs at the Harvard Kennedy School; and Yolanda Kakabadse, former President of WWF International.

Key to everything we do at the Arabesque Group is our underlying belief that through the integration of non-financial ESG data with AI-powered technology, we can significantly improve our information environment. Our vision is guided by an aim to deliver sustainability products and services to all stakeholders in our global marketplace.
