Arabesque announces the appointment of Jürgen Fitschen, Dr Christof Mascher and Dr Lars Jaeger

21 May, 2021, London and Frankfurt – Arabesque has today announced the appointment of three new Senior Independent Advisors who will support the company’s growth and strategy to combine AI technology, data and finance to deliver sustainable financial solutions across global markets.

MrJürgen Fitschen, former co-CEO of Deutsche Bank and former President of the Association of German Banks, has joined the Advisory Board of Arabesque S-Ray GmbH, a leading provider of sustainability data and intelligence solutions based on superior ESG research and AI technology. He will advise and support the expansion of S-Ray’s services worldwide, including innovative new tools for capturing, analysing, and reporting sustainability data.

Dr Christof Mascher has joined the Senior Advisor Committee of Arabesque AI, a provider of autonomous, sustainable asset management delivered through artificial intelligence. He retired from his role as Group Chief Operating Officer at Allianz SE in December 2020 following more than thirty years with Allianz, and after having served as a Member of the Board of Management of Allianz SE for more than a decade, leading the digital transformation of the group.

Dr Lars Jaeger is a Swiss (originally German) financial theorist and science historian who heads Alternative Risk Premia at GAM Systematic, and is an author of several leading books on quantum computing, the history of science and modern technologies, as well as on energy and climate. He will also join the Senior Advisor Committee of Arabesque AI with a focus on high performance computation in finance.

Jürgen Fitschen brings with him a long and distinguished career in the banking sector, including serving as co-CEO of Deutsche Bank from 2012 to 2016, and acting as President of the Association of German Banks from 2013 to 2016. Prior to Deutsche Bank, which he first joined in 1987, Mr Fitschen worked at Citibank where he was a member of the German Executive Committee. He studied Economics and Business Administration at the University of Hamburg and holds a master’s degree in Business Administration.

On his appointment, Jürgen Fitschen said:

Dr Christof Mascher has been a part of Allianz throughout his career, joining the industrial Insurance team in 1989, before becoming Head of Information Technology. In 2000, Dr Mascher was appointed to be CFO and COO of Allianz Elementar, moving to Allianz Deutschland in 2006 as COO and to Allianz SE in 2009 as Group COO. He was latterly also engaged as the Chairman of Allianz Technology SE. He holds a doctorate degree in law from the University of Innsbruck and a master’s degree in philosophy from the University of Vienna.

Dr Christof Mascher said on today’s announcement:

Prior to his role as Head of Alternative Risk Premia within GAM Systematic, Dr Lars Jaeger was the founding partner and Chief Executive Officer of Alternative Beta Partners AG. Before that, he was a partner of Partners Group where he was responsible for the hedge fund business and initiated in 2004 the worldwide first alternative beta business. Dr Jaeger holds a doctorate degree in theoretical physics from the Max-Planck Institute for Physics of Complex Systems, Dresden, and a master’s degree in physics from the University of Bonn. He is a CFA charter holder, a Financial Risk Manager (FRM), and the author of several leading books on alternative investments next to his books on science.
